White House advisor Karl Rove told the Wall Street Journal of his upcoming retirement as President Bush's senior political advisor. As of Labor Day, Karl is a free agent. He offered the usual baloney of wanting to spend more time with family, but he clearly will be the top pick for the plethora of Presidential wannabees. Who will get the rights to draft him first? And at what price? Might Karl go international?
Iraq appears headed toward a leadership change. Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki seems slated for disposal. Will Karl advise ex-PM Ayad Allawi who worked alongside Paul Bremer of the Coalition Provisional Authority? Does Mr. Allawi have any of the missing $8 billion of cash to fund his campaign? Or will he be summarily appointed by President Bush in a "from one monarch to another" act?
