Carlyle's David Rubenstein to Speak at Dow Jones PEU Conference

Dow Jones press release states:

The world's most influential private equity and venture capital executives will convene at the Dow Jones Private Equity Analyst Conference, Sept. 28-29 in New York, to assess how the economic recovery, financial reform and changing industry dynamics are transforming the asset class and what investors must do to succeed.
Carlyle Group co-founder David Rubenstein will speak, probing the "latest developments in the asset class and offer insights on making the most of the current economic situation." The politically-connected private equity underwriter (PEU) delivered in his 2008 Alaska talk. He advised positioning oneself for government handouts. Will he do likewise in New York 2010?

Carlyle's health care and infrastructure pushes have them tied to Uncle Sam's wallet. While they greedily take, the PEU boys don't want to give. The good news is they are in charge of many government reform efforts, thus can steer policy and business in their direction.

Carlyle's big success in 2010 has been flipping affiliates, before carried interest taxation changes. Count on an enlightening talk from Mr. Rubenstein about a month before elections. Given the Carlyle co-founder grows political tea leaves, his reading will be telling.
