The Carlyle Group, a politically connected private equity underwriter (PEU) located in Washington, D.C. in 1987 to lever elected officials for grand returns. TechGods may be late to the strategy but they're doing a great job of imitation. A Meta spokesman stated:
“I can confirm that Mark (Zuckerberg) and (wife) Priscilla have purchased a home in D.C., which will allow Mark to spend more time there as Meta continues the work on policy issues related to American technology leadership,”
The price? $23 million. Last summer, fellow TechGod Marc Andreessen did likewise, however he had an urgent need to control damage from the failure of Synapse, a fintech that left people with no access to their "bank money."
Zuckerberg follows Howard Lutnick and David Sacks as D.C. homebuyers in 2025. Between the three homes new owners spent a total $59.3 million.
It's 38 years after Carlyle but has the same predatory roots. Politicians Red and Blue love PEU and increasing, more are one. TechGods recently enacted a strategy imitating PEU legends, just more publicly and savagely.
